Fully explained in this 16min video.
Player DUPR scores are now connected to any PA sanctioned tournaments so when you register for a particular tournament, you'll need to be registered on DUPR and you’ll only see events consistent with what your DUPR score indicates you're eligible for.
Requests to play in a lower division (within 0.25 of your current DUPR) may be considered. In the interest of fair play, Tournament Directors will assess players based on past tournament performances. To foster fair placement, players with a DUPR reliability score of 80% or greater will be placed in their correct skill level event.
Example: A player with a DUPR of 3.724 may request to compete in 3.49 below, provided past performance data supports this placement and the player's partner's DUPR falls within the threshold range (for doubles). During this process, the Tournament Coordinator and Director will assess the appropriateness of this request and advise of their decision.
*** Caveat/ Disclaimer
If your request to play in a lower skilled event is approved but your play over the weeks/months before the tournament increases your DUPR and you need to be changed back to the original event – if the maximum numbers of players have registered in that event, then you will miss out on a spot.
This impacts the Hustl Warrnambool Pickleball Open 2025 being held 6-8 June
Requests to play in a lower division need to be emailed to Dave Watson pickleballwarrnambool@gmail.com and Brad Kluss tournaments@pickleballaus.org
Further Key Points
- Register for DUPR at https://www.dupr.com/ if you haven’t already.
- Play in as many DUPR sessions as possible, with clubs/venues to increase your DUPR reliability score.
- Encourage your club/venue to run some DUPR sessions if they aren’t offering any.
- Help out where you can as DUPR sessions generally require more organisation and the scores have to be verified by players on the scoresheet and entered by club volunteer/s.
