About Pickleball
Described as a cross between tennis, badminton and table tennis, pickleball was created in the USA in 1965 and has more than 3 million participants worldwide. It was introduced to Australia in 2015 and has gained popularity as a low-impact sport that is easy to learn, suitable for almost any age, and exhilarating when played competitively. It can be played as singles or doubles.
Pickleball might be for you if
- You've never played a sport before and want to start,
- You've played a racquet sport previously,
- Injury or age is making other physical activities less enjoyable,
- You want a physical activity that is also social, and/or
- You are interested in a sporting challenge.
While simple, the rules take some time to learn and understand. The best approach is to attend a "Come and Try" session at your local pickleball club.
